Programme Support
We support NGOs and community-based organisations to design effective programmes, develop funding proposals and communicate their results.

A Ghana-based, founder-led research and advisory consultancy supporting NGOs, research institutions and development organisations with research, programme design and clear technical communication.
We support organisations seeking to understand complex challenges, strengthen programme delivery and make informed decisions.
We support NGOs and community-based organisations to design effective programmes, develop funding proposals and communicate their results.
Build a clear picture of programme performance and use learning to guide the next decision.
Answer practical questions through carefully designed studies, field data collection and clear analysis.
Explore soil health, agricultural practices and the pathways that support resilient farming systems.
Bring environmental evidence into project planning, conservation and natural resource management.
Understand local priorities and identify opportunities for inclusive, sustainable livelihood development.
Bring research and programme information together in clear technical reports, evidence reviews and learning briefs.
Whether you are preparing a funding application, shaping a new programme or reporting on delivery, we help you bring purpose, structure and evidence to your work.
Grant proposal writing and review, concept notes, funding-call alignment and clear presentation of project objectives, activities and expected results.
Theories of change, logical frameworks, results frameworks and workplans that connect community priorities with practical delivery.
Donor progress reports, final project reports, technical reports and learning briefs, alongside support to strengthen teams’ proposal and reporting skills.
Proposal support is tailored to each funding call; funding decisions remain with the donor.
Every assignment starts with the decision you need to make. We connect the research question, the local context and the final recommendation.
Clarify objectives, stakeholders and the evidence needed to move forward.
Choose appropriate methods and gather information with care for context and quality.
Translate analysis into clear explanations, useful insights and practical options.
Deliver recommendations and learning that teams can apply to their work.
These projects form part of Dr. Apori’s individual experience in applied environmental research and community-focused work. They are presented as founder experience, rather than contracts delivered by VIA.

Dr. Apori’s consultancy assignment for World Vision Uganda combined coffee-husk biochar production, farmer training and on-farm evaluation of organic amendments for maize production.
Consultant in agroecology, soil fertility and on-farm research. The report documents training and participation by 56 farmers, trials at two farmer-managed sites, five amendment options and four replicates per treatment across two cropping seasons. Assessment covered soil fertility, maize yield, profitability and farmer feedback.
The combined application of coffee-husk biochar and cattle manure produced the highest maize grain yield: 6.95 t/ha in both seasons, compared with controls of 4.43 t/ha in the wet season and 4.28 t/ha in the dry season. These represent gains of 56.9% and 62.4%, respectively.
Soil pH increased by 1.11–1.26 units relative to the control. The combined treatment was preferred by 39 of the 56 participating farmers (69.6%).
Labour requirements, access to kilns and further training were key constraints to wider uptake. The report recommends group-based production and further validation across farms, soils and seasons.
Results are drawn from the supplied consultancy report, prepared in October 2026 from 2019–2020 project records. Findings apply to two farmer fields and two seasons; long-term carbon sequestration was not measured.

This research investigated the potential of silicate rock to replenish mineral nutrients in tropical soils and support sustainable crop production. Dr. Samuel Obeng Apori undertook the experiment with sponsorship from Newcastle University and Agrimagined, UK.
The project examined how rock-derived amendments could contribute to soil fertility and agricultural soil management. This experience informs VIA’s research and advisory services in sustainable agriculture, soil amendment evaluation and natural resource management.
Research co-authored by Dr. Apori provides a foundation for VIA’s environmental research and technical advisory work.

A 14-week controlled pot experiment tested nepheline-syenite tailings at five rates, from 0 to 20 g/kg of artificial soil. Dr. Apori’s documented contributions included conceptualisation, methodology, investigation, formal analysis, data curation, project administration and manuscript preparation.
Soil pH, nutrient availability and wheat nutrient uptake generally increased with application rate. Wheat biomass increased up to 10 g/kg, with no further biomass gain at higher rates. The study also found that conventional phosphorus and potassium nutrient-use-efficiency metrics require careful interpretation for slow-release mineral amendments.
These findings support further investigation of nepheline-syenite tailings as an agricultural amendment. The experiment used artificial soil to isolate mineral effects; it does not establish performance in tropical field soils or long-term carbon removal.

Dr. Samuel Obeng Apori co-authored research assessing potentially harmful elements in 102 soil samples from active, abandoned and profile gold-mining sites in Ghana.
The study identified contamination concerns and estimated non-carcinogenic risks for children above the assessment threshold. Its findings highlight the importance of contaminated-site assessment and rehabilitation.

This is co-authored research experience, rather than an assignment delivered by VIA. Health-risk estimates indicate potential risks under the study’s exposure assumptions, rather than observed illness.
